On Your Mark:  An Evening of Self-Tape Essentials and On-Camera Audition Skills

It is vital that actors know how to submit a self-taped audition.  With the accessibility of equipment, user friendly technology and the fast pace of the industry actors are frequently asked to submit a recording of their initial audition, and callback too sometimes, to be considered for film and TV work, and sometimes on stage.  Because technology makes the world a lot smaller, self-tapes are especially useful when an actor is in a different location than those making the creative decisions.  

As prevalent as the practice is, self-tape equipment and set-up options vary, and are determined by the actor’s budget and what they already have available. There is no one way to do it. But there are better ways.

In this workshop actors will gain an understanding of the basics of a self-tape set-up, along with best practices to follow when submitting themselves for projects.  Actors will also be introduced to on-camera audition techniques they can apply to their self-tapes and when auditioning at casting offices.

This workshop is intended for actors of all ages.  Actors under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent.

When: Monday, October 21, 7 - 9:30 pm

This workshop is intended for actors of all ages.  Actors under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent.

The Actor as a Business – Understanding the Business Side of Acting to Enhance Your Artistic Pursuits

Pursuing a career as an actor is filled with many challenges.  Following your passion with an understanding that as an actor you are both artist and business owner, will better prepare you for the experiences you are likely to encounter in a highly competitive industry.  Participants in this workshop will gain a clear understanding of their marketable “types”; how to create an effective headshot (what to strive for and what to avoid); the various types of auditions and possible pitfalls; the principles of self-taping; proven strategies for self-marketing; and many other crucial career management topics.  Whether an actor is working in a small or medium sized market, or preparing to relocate to a larger, more competitive market, the content and discussions shared will be eye-opening and empowering.
